Knit Wits
53
Scarves were handed out Christmas morning to the Overnight Winter Shelter
clients
and 103 children's caps were included in many of the Jesse Tree gifts for Head
Start with
the remaining caps presented to the teachers to hand out when needed. Many
prayer
shawls, after having been blessed, were given to persons in need of comfort.
Chemo caps,
given the
name "Duffhugs", are taken by Sandy Costa to the Campus to provide a small
measure of comfort for those undergoing chemotherapy. This year, prayer stoles
have been
given to
Lancaster General Hospital clergy for
in-patients and Bev Hess delivers some to
Women's and Babies Hospital when the need arises. Bev also is keeping a
scrapbook filled with the thank you notes and newspaper clippings that are
received.
This
past summer Mark Jakiel presented 3 prayer shawls during the Mission Trip south.
Sue Bianco and Carol Hopwood created "strip quilts" and 4 were sold to help
defray some of the expense of yarn for projects. Also, as a side project, Sue
Bianco, Barb O'Brien and Carol Hopwood have created children's quilts and have
donated 20 of them to the Linus Project. The Knit Wits appreciate the donations
of yarn they receive and thank those persons who do so anonymously.

The
Knit Wits meet on the 1st
and 3rd Tuesday of each month at I :00 PM in the parish hall.
On the
5th Tuesday of the month we knit with Dolly Carter at Oakleaf Manor, who is our oldest Knit Wit at 101 years old!
For more information or if you would like to join in
the fun and fellowship,
please contact Carol Hopwood at 252-3101 or via email at
